Welcome Gang!
My name is Tony Adams (AKA 4GTONE).
I am a former student athlete, a two-time All ACC player, a Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, a family business owner with over $150,000 in gross revenue in the last three months, and currently an offensive lineman for the Las Vegas Vipers in the XFL.
But did you know that I am also a financial planning teacher? I never would have thought I'd end up teaching finance and business, but sometimes God takes you on unexpected journeys.
When I stepped away from the football field in 2020, I was eager to explore new opportunities in the sports world. I started by joining forces with my father in a family business, which saw our revenue soar from an average of $10k a month to a peak of $61k in December 2022 after we became partners.
However, my passion for football was still burning strong, so I pursued my dream of coaching and training young players. I became a high school football coach and later landed a graduate assistant role at my alma mater, North Carolina State University. I even had the chance to coach at the D1 level and was offered a position as a high school coach at a brand-new school in my hometown.
But I wanted to do more - I wanted to teach.
That's when I applied for a sport marketing teaching job, only to be told that it was already taken. Although I was initially disappointed, the school offered me a teaching position in financial planning, a subject I had no prior experience in. To my surprise, I fell in love with finance and now I'm on a mission to share my newfound knowledge and experience with young athletes.
Through teaching high school students, I realized that there was a huge gap in financial education for athletes. Many athletes, including myself, have a lot of success on the field, but struggle with managing their finances and business ventures off the field. I wish I had learned these valuable lessons earlier in my playing career, and that's why I am so passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with the next generation of athletes.
That's why I'm here writing this blog. I want to help athletes understand the importance of managing their finances and help them make informed decisions about their financial future.
Whether you're just starting your athletic journey, or you're already a seasoned pro, I hope to share insights and practical tips that will help you make the most of your finances and secure your future.
So buckle up, grab a pen and paper, and let's dive into the world of finance and business!
